US–Ecuador Strike Targets Alleged Narco-Terror Network
In a post shared on the US social media platform X, SOUTHCOM stated that the mission occurred following a formal request from Ecuador and included “lethal kinetic operations” aimed at suspected designated terror groups active within the country.
“#SOUTHCOM Commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan directed the joint force to support Ecuadorian forces conducting lethal kinetic operations against Designated Terrorist Organizations within Ecuador,” the statement said.
Donovan emphasized that the action demonstrated ongoing partnership between Washington and Quito in confronting narco-terrorism across the region.
“I congratulate our joint forces and the Ecuadorian armed forces for the successful operation against narco-terrorists in Ecuador,” Donovan said in a statement. “This collaborative and decisive action is a strategic success for all nations in the Western Hemisphere committed to disrupting and defeating narco-terrorism.”
Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell explained that the department launched the focused mission to break apart what he characterized as a narco-terrorist logistics complex.
